Jay Shilling is a third-generation aviator with a deep-rooted passion for aviation shaped by a lifelong exposure to the industry. Raised in an environment where safety, precision, and accountability were paramount, he has carried those values into every stage of his development as a pilot and aviation professional.

Jay began his aviation career at Dolphin Aviation at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, where he progressed from a maintenance technician at age 16 to Lead Line Service Technician by age 17. In this role, he oversaw daily operational activities including aircraft servicing, fueling, towing, and quality control, while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment that demanded strong leadership and attention to detail.

He holds a Commercial Pilot certificate with Multi-Engine and Instrument ratings and has accumulated over 500 hours of flight time, including extensive experience in Beechcraft Barons. His training spans both traditional analog instrumentation and advanced glass cockpit avionics, giving him adaptability across a wide range of aircraft and operational environments. His cross-country experience includes high-performance aircraft operations throughout the United States and into challenging environments such as the Florida Keys.

Jay is actively involved in Sentinel Aviation Transition Group, where he contributes to flight operations, aircraft maintenance coordination, scheduling, and the development of structured training programs designed to help military pilots transition into civilian aviation careers.In addition to his aviation work, Jay is committed to service and leadership in his community.

He volunteers with the Bread Basket Food Pantry, helping distribute thousands of pounds of food weekly to families in need, and has served as an assistant baseball coach, mentoring young athletes. His background in athletics, scouting, and diving reflects a lifelong commitment to discipline, teamwork, and personal growth.

Jay brings to the cockpit a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement, with a focus on safety, sound decision-making, and effective crew coordination.
